Cue The Holidays!

Spreading holiday cheer is my favorite thing to do!  🎄❣️

We have been exploring Wake Forest with the kids a lot more frequently these days because what’s not to love! They have some of the best family friendly festivals in the area with an abundance of fun activities.

This past weekend we heard about a holiday festival and decided to check out. The Wake Forest Cares Holiday Kickoff was Nov 13th, it had live music and performances, an ice rink, Santa, Cousins Lobster Food Truck and so much more. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining but it was cool enough for hot cocoa win/win.. it was a perfect day and the kids loved it.

The Town of Wake Forest always has creative entertainment and the kids are instantly drawn in.

Our favorite part of the day was watching the Nutcracker performance, the dancers put on a great show. It was especially nice to see the community coming together after such a long year. The event ended with a light show, live music and our kids ready for bed.

The event was fun but it has a bigger purpose. What is The Holiday Donation Drive? Wake Forest Cares Holiday Donation Drive bring support to multiple orginazations and events including Helping Others by Providing Electricity (HOPE), Northern Community Food Security Team, Shop with a Cop, Wake Forest Firefighters Foundation, and Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Scholarship Program. The Holiday Donation Drive will be accepting donations until Dec 31.

Wake Forest has become one of the most desirable places to raise a family. They attract families with great schools, reasonable commuting times into the city, but mostly how much they invest into the community. Wake Forest has that sweet charm that you can feel when you attend the events. The downtown is just one of many areas to get to know. Downtown Wake Forest has some unique places to check out and here are some recomendations. Sugar Magnolia is Cafe with Tea Parties and great food. Unwind on White is a Yoga/Wine Shop with a stunning roof top area for sipping wine or getting a group together. Lemon Tree is our favorite place to get lunch or order dinners for the week. Plant Cakes Bake Shop is an all-vegan bakery that has amazing donuts and desserts, try the GF Vanilla Cupcake with Strawberry Buttercream frosting! There are coffee shops, boutiques, a candy store, Shorty’s famous Hot Dogs, Bodeaga for date nights, White Street Brewery and Norse Brewing and you can’t forget Tonic. All these local small businesses get to know you by name, by order, and quickly become friends. They tie the community together in ways you can‘t see, you just feel it.

I also can’t forget to mention that Wake Forest is home to the real Santa. Most people believe he lives in the North Pole but if you live around Wake Forest you know he lives in a historic home near the downtown, his home has a tree outside that is always lit and a flag. Santa also known as Jim Dyer is one of the town commissioners that helped with the event. Santa is known for bringing the community together in support of charitable foundations and reminding everyone how much they are loved by god.

The Wake Forest 2021 Holiday Donation Drive is stil going and you can donate until Dec 31.
